The adhan is a special Islamic call to salah (prayer). A mu'addhin calls the adhan from the minaret of a mosque to announce every prayer and worship event. According to Islamic custom, the adhan is also the first thing that a newborn baby. The adhan (Arabic: أَذَان ʔaˈðaːn; also written adhaan, azan, azaan in Farsi, athan, and ezan in Urdu and Turkish, among other languages) is the Islamic call to prayer, recited by a muezzin at prescribed times of the day. The root of the word is ʾadhina أَذِنَ meaning 'to listen, to hear, be informed about'.
